ONROAD REFUELLING

EFuel is a card-free, cashless system using technology to pre-authorize and conclude a refuelling transaction. The vehicle and not the driver authorizes the transaction. eFuel is the common brand selected by a consortium of oil companies in South Africa to market the retail service station network equipped with automated refuelling technology.

eFuel eAsy facilitates automated refuelling with manual input of the vehicles’ odometer reading.
 

Materials required for quick & easy installation	The chip is secured to the body of the vehicle – if the chip is tampered with it is automatically de-activated.
eFuel eXtra facilitates automated refuelling with automatic electronic capture of the vehicles’ odometer reading.	The eFuel eAsy antennae is simply fitted around the fuel tank inlet.

Features

The eFuel system replaces the use of cards and cash with technology that works as follows:
The pump nozzle on the automated forecourt is equipped with a transceiver antenna. The vehicle, in turn, is fitted with a VIU (vehicle identification unit) which is connected to a vehicle antenna installed around the fuel tank inlet. When the equipped nozzle is inserted into the fuel tank inlet of the fitted vehicle an ‘electronic handshake’ occurs through RF communication established between the antennae on the vehicle, and the pump.

An authorization process then takes place and the pump will only commence pumping fuel if successful authorization by the VIU has occurred.

It is therefore the vehicle that authorizes refuelling and not the driver, ensuring that the correct vehicle is being filled with fuel. There is no manual data input.

• Type of fuel used
• Forecourt identity
• Vehicle registration
• Departmental allocation
• Odometer reading *
• Oil purchases **
• Bank details
